Shame,,,,I had never wanted my 1st blog to start with this word, like everyone else, I too wanted my first experience to be a pleasant 1 for all involved, but look at the irony of things.
By now I really don't think there's any1 left in the country who hasnt seen the utterly disturbing, gory,apalling images on every tv channel or splashed all over the pages of all dailies, ASSAM'S hour/day of utter, unforgiving, shame.
Most ironical being the fact that our great country has Women at, what's perhaps its 2 top positions of power, and we call ourselves a civilised nation,
I really hope, the woman who was made to run the busy strees of Assam's capital city,that too so near its Administrative Quarters, naked, can forgive our Ladies on Top, 'coz I surely would'nt have, in her place. Politicians, somewhere down the line, have forgotten that they are supposed to be our ELECTED CARETAKERS and I have no doubt that this episode too will be twisted and manipulated to suit their own agendas, and that in the mdst of the circus that will be played out, that unfortunate woman and her humiliation will die a silent, unlamented death, as has happened countless other times before this, with countless others, in different situations where the only similarity was, perhaps, the fact that the circus stops suddenly, leaving its Subject, as wronged as the day it all started,
And the icing on this cake of rotten, ugly worms, was the sight of the State's Ruling Party Spokesperson, who also happens to be the health Minister of our Lucky State, say on camera that the whole incident had just left 1 person dead, proving that he is the best person for his post, he being unable to distinguish a dead body from a living,breathing one...
Words perhaps will never be able to fully express the disgust I have been feeling, and nothing can supress the gall rising up my throat, but one thing I am sure if, this is just the start of worse days ahead, we are yet to see the depths to which our new-found, trigger-happy, mob-mentality, will take us ,,,,
I shudder to think what's ahead, I just couldn't bring myself to post any pictures, here,, they make me cringe!! I don't know why, but it reminds me of the fact that I am born of a woman, and somehow the woman in the photos, is related to me!!!!
